Why Pink Tatpier is the Destination for Your Conch Piercing in London
A perfectly executed conch piercing is a work of art. We believe the experience of getting one should be just as exceptional. Here’s why discerning clients choose Pink Tatpier for their ear curation projects:
Specialist Piercers & Ear Curation Experts
Our piercers are not just technicians; they are artists who see the ear as a unique canvas. They possess a deep understanding of ear anatomy and will not just perform a piercing but will help you place it perfectly. We consider how the conch will balance with your other piercings (or future plans) to create a cohesive, curated look that is unique to you.
A Commitment to Uncompromising Safety & Hygiene
Your health is our absolute priority. We operate under the strictest hygiene protocols.
- 100% Needle-Based Piercing: We never use piercing guns, which cause significant tissue trauma. Every piercing is performed with a brand new, single-use, sterilised, razor-sharp needle for maximum precision, a cleaner channel, and a smoother healing process.
- Hospital-Grade Sterilisation: All reusable equipment is sterilised in a medical-grade autoclave before every single use, ensuring complete peace of mind.
- A Professional, Private Environment: Our London studio is a calm, clean, and welcoming space designed to make you feel comfortable and secure.

Inner Conch vs. Outer Conch: Which Style is for You?
The “conch” refers to the large area of cartilage that makes up the inner cup of your ear. There are two distinct types of conch piercings, and the one you choose will affect your final look and jewellery options.
Inner Conch Piercing
This is the most common type, placed in the centre of the inner “cup” of the ear.
- Best For: Showcasing beautiful decorative studs. The placement allows a sparkling gem or an intricate cluster to become the stunning centrepiece of your ear.
- Jewellery: Healed with a flat-back labret stud. A hoop can only be worn in a healed inner conch if the piercing is specifically placed near the edge of the cartilage—something to discuss with your piercer.
Outer Conch Piercing
This piercing goes through the flat, upper part of the conch, closer to the helix ridge.
- Best For: Wearing a bold, decorative hoop or ring that wraps around the outside of the ear once fully healed. This is the placement to choose if your ultimate goal is the classic “conch hoop” look.
- Jewellery: Also healed with a flat-back labret stud, but its position makes it ideal for switching to a ring later on.
During your consultation, our piercer will assess your ear and help you decide which placement will best suit your unique anatomy and the aesthetic you wish to achieve.
The Conch Piercing Process: A Guide to Your Appointment
- Consultation & Jewellery Selection: Your appointment starts with a one-on-one consultation. You’ll choose the perfect piece of initial jewellery from our extensive collection of implant-grade studs.
- Marking the Perfect Placement: Your piercer will thoroughly clean your ear and, based on your discussion, mark the proposed spot with a skin-safe pen. You will get to check and approve the placement in a mirror.
- The Quick, Precise Piercing Procedure: You’ll be asked to take a deep breath in and exhale slowly as the piercer performs the piercing with a sterilised, single-use needle. The piercing itself is over in a second.
- Jewellery Insertion & Aftercare Guidance: Your chosen labret stud is carefully inserted and secured. Your piercer will then provide you with detailed aftercare instructions.

Conch Piercing Cost, Pain & Healing: Your 2025 London Guide
We believe in complete transparency. Here is what you can realistically expect from the process.
Pain Level
The conch is a thick piece of cartilage, but the piercing is surprisingly manageable for most. Clients typically rate the pain at a 5-6 out of 10. It’s a sharp, noticeable pinch that lasts only for a moment, followed by a dull ache.
Healing Time
Patience is key with any cartilage piercing. A conch piercing will take approximately 6 to 9 months to heal fully, and sometimes up to a year. Consistent and correct aftercare is essential for a smooth healing journey.
Conch Piercing Cost in London (as of September 2025)
Your total cost is the piercing service fee plus the cost of your chosen jewellery.
Service | Price (GBP) | What’s Included |
Conch Piercing Service Fee | £40 – £45 | A professional consultation, anatomy assessment, marking, the sterile piercing procedure, and a comprehensive aftercare guide. |
Initial Jewellery (Stud) | Starts from £20 | An implant-grade titanium flat-back labret stud. Price varies based on material (solid gold) and decorative end (gems, clusters). |
Total Starting Price | From £60 – £65 | The service fee + the cost of your chosen jewellery. |
The Best Jewellery for Your Conch Piercing
The right jewellery is crucial for both healing and style.
For Initial Healing: The Flat-Back Labret Stud
For the entire initial healing period, the only appropriate jewellery is a flat-back labret stud with a slightly longer bar.
- Why? The flat disc on the back sits flush against your ear, minimising snagging on hair and clothing. The longer bar accommodates the initial swelling. Using a hoop from the start will cause severe irritation and almost guarantees healing problems.

For a Healed Piercing: Studs and Hoops
Once your piercing is fully healed (after 6-9 months), the fun begins!
- Decorative Studs: You can switch to a shorter bar and explore our vast collection of decorative ends, from minimalist discs to sparkling gemstone clusters.
- Hoops & Rings: This is the time you can be fitted for a beautiful, snug-fitting seamless ring or a decorative hoop to achieve that classic conch look.
Materials Matter: Implant-Grade Only
We only stock and use jewellery made from the safest, highest-quality materials:
- Implant-Grade Titanium (ASTM F-136)
- 14k & 18k Solid Gold (Nickel-Free)
Essential Aftercare for a Healthy Conch Piercing
- DO clean the piercing twice daily with a sterile saline solution (we recommend NeilMed Piercing Aftercare spray).
- DON’T sleep directly on the piercing. Use a travel pillow and place your ear in the hole to avoid pressure.
- DON’T wear over-ear headphones that press on the area during the initial healing.
- DON’T twist, turn, or play with the jewellery.
- DO return to the studio for a downsize appointment after 4-6 weeks to have a shorter bar fitted. This is vital to prevent snagging and irritation.

Frequently Asked Questions About Conch Piercings
1. Can I get a hoop in my conch straight away?
No. A hoop’s movement and curvature will cause constant irritation to a fresh piercing, leading to bumps, pain, and a much longer healing time. You must heal with a stud first.
2. How long until I can wear headphones or earbuds again?
Over-ear headphones that press on the piercing should be avoided for the first few months. Earbuds can usually be worn with an inner conch as long as they don’t touch the jewellery, but you must be very careful when inserting and removing them.
3. What’s the difference between a conch and a helix piercing?
A helix piercing is performed on the outer rim/ridge of the ear’s cartilage. A conch piercing is performed on the inner part of the ear’s cartilage “cup.”
4. Can I get a double or triple conch piercing?
Absolutely! A double or triple conch, where two or three piercings are placed close together, creates a stunning and unique look. We recommend getting them one at a time to ensure easier healing, but you can plan the placement for all of them from the start.
